Geographical introduction

Rangpur District is a geographically and historically traditional town in the northern part of Bangladesh. At present the district extends from 15003 'to 26000' north latitude and from 6056 'to 89032' east longitude. Rangpur district is bounded on the north by Lalmonirhat, on the east by Kurigram, on the south-east by Gaibandha, on the north-west by Nilphamari and on the south-west by Dinajpur district. The river Teesta separates the northern and northeastern borders from Lalmonirhat and Kurigram districts. The total area of Rangpur district is 2,37.64 square kilometers. The district consists of 8 upazilas, 76 unions, 3 municipalities and 1214 mouzas.
