Deputy Commissioner's Office:
As a result of civil gain, the Rangpur area came under the control of the company. The extent of this area was (1) the criminal area of ​​Rangpur, (2) the parganas of Swaruppur, Bajua, Baharband, Vitarband, West Garo Hills of Rajshahi zamindari and (3) Indrakpur zamindari.

          Revenue collectors were appointed in Rangpur district on 12 August 185, supervisors on 182, civil judges on 181 and magistrates on 26 June 18. Rangpur was placed under the Commissioners of Bihar and Benares in 1818 and again in 1819 under the Board of Revenue, Calcutta.

          At the stage of formation of subdivision, subdivision was established in Bhabaniganj on 26th August 1858. Later the area of ​​Bhabaniganj was reduced a little and the subdivision headquarters was shifted to Gaibandha. Sadar subdivision was formed on 6 December 18.

          Sundarganj Thana was created from Bhabaniganj Thana in 1857 and Bhabaniganj was added to Gaibandha. In 1855, Kundigram Thana was formed with a special section of Ulipur and Nageshwari Thanas. On 19th August the subdivision was shifted from Bagdogra to Nilphamari.

          In 1903, Gobindaganj Thana was divided into Gobindganj and Saghata Thanas. Kotwali or Rangpur Thana was first established in 175 in Mahiganj area (old Rangpur). Between 1917-1918, Kotwali Thana was divided and Gangachara Thana was created. Mahiganj Thana was abolished in 1917 and two separate Thanas named Pirgachha and Kaunia were formed. Kumarganj police station was renamed Badarganj. The western part of the river Teesta is named as Jaldhaka.

          Kaliganj and Hatibandha Thanas were formed in 1913 and Dimla Thana was divided in 1914 and Kishoreganj and Dimla Thanas were established.

          In 1914, Lalmonirhat Thana was divided into Lalmonirhat and Fulbari Thanas and Ulipur and Chilmari Thanas were formed into Ulipur, Roumari and Chilmari Thanas.

          Gaibandha and Fulchhari thanas were divided into Gaibandha in 1914 and Nageshwari and Bhurungamari thanas were formed in 1915. In 1919, Gobindaganj was further divided and Gobindaganj and Palashbari thanas were formed.

          As a result of district reorganization in 1984, the greater Rangpur district was divided into Rangpur, Kundigram, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari and Gaibandha districts.
